SAMRO remains one of the few organisations in South Africa that support composers by commissioning them to write new works. SENA administrates the commissioning process as part of their Corporate Social Investment portfolio. SENA receives requests for commissions from different sources. Conductors, artists, universities or organisers of music competitions, concerts and festivals have in the past approached SENA with requests for commissions.

‘Request for Commission’ forms and ‘Regulations’ booklet will be available for download from our website soon.
Commissioned works with a scheduled performance date will be given preference.
Deadlines for requests to be tabled at the Artistic Committee meetings are15 February, 15 May, 15 August and 15 September.
